After having their 6 game unbeaten streak (5 straight wins) snapped last week at Columbus, the Revs were in Kansas City last night to play the defending champs. A win and the Revs will be tied in points for 2nd in the Eastern conference. A few weeks back New England played SKC in Foxboro and won 3-1. To be fair SKC had the leagues leading scorer Dom Dwyer suspended and Benny Feilhaber was unavailable too.

New England were leading at halftime 2-0, goals from Kelyn Rowe assisted by Teal Bundbury and Kevin Alston, and captain Jose Goncalves, but early in the 2nd half SKC tied it up Paulo Nagamura and Dom Dwyer scoring both goals. It wasn’t until 5 minutes left in the game when Jermaine Jones scored his first in a Revs uniform to make it 3-2 final

As a result of this win, New England are now tied with Kansas City for 2nd in the east, but since the Revs have 14 wins on the season and SKC has 13, New England own 2nd place, as wins is the first tie breaker. With 5 games left, and the Eastern conference getting tighter, New England must keep winning to keep up and stay ahead.

All of their rivals play today, so some losses will help the Revs. Their next game will be next Saturday night at home vs Columbus
