Many people do not realize that you do not have to get your supply from NGrid. You can get your supply from any company licensed to sell electric supply in Massachusetts and your bill would still come from NGrid. The only difference is that it would list your supplier, not NGrid, on the back. If you have any delivery problems, you still call NGrid.

There are so many different providers out there, that depending on where you live, you will always be able to find one that suits your needs. For example, if you live in Texas, then have you considered checking out the best electric companies in Texas? If you don’t live in Texas, then that doesn’t matter as you’ll easily be able to find an electric company that can help you out.

Can you save money going with another supplier? Viridian, has a current rate of of .1059 guaranteed for three years. If you had Viridian for your supplier in November with a usage of 500 kWh, your monthly supply charges would be 52.95 bringing your total to $88.76–an increase of $11.56 from the prior month! You would save:

  • 28.32 per month
  • 169.892 over 6 months
  • if you had Viridian charging you .1059 versus .16273 using 500 kWh.
  • The more kWh you use, the bigger the savings.

What if at the end of 6 months NGrid were to have a huge drop in their rates, bring them below Viridian? You can pay a $50 cancellation fee.. Viridian also has a back-end rebate at the end of 3 years to provide peace of mind in the event rates dropped dramatically, but for the purposes of this post lets just go with the $50 cancellation fee.

Each household’s usage is different. If you want an exact analysis based on the current rates and the final approved NGrid rates, send us a copy of your current bill.
