Paul J. Franco of 57 Olean St., Worcester, has secured a spot on the ballot as the Republican candidate for the 1st Worcester District. He has been certified by the Secretary of State’s Office with 451 qualifying signatures.

Franco has served the City of Worcester as a member of the Conservation Commission for three years and as the Chair of the Worcester Republican City Committee for two.

He served as an officer in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate’s General Corps for 31 years recently retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel and has practiced law in the Commonwealth for 30 years.

Before being placed on the retirement list two years ago, Franco’s last active duty assignment was serving as a Soldier’s Counsel for the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, which involved representing Wounded Warriors facing medical separation from the military. His job was to ensure that our soldiers received appropriate compensation from the Army before being medically retired or separated. Franco received two Meritorious Services medals for his last three years of military service.

He has lived in the city for 26 years and raised dhigh teamsix children with his wife, Mary Ann. During the last 20 years Franco has served as a coach and director for Jesse Burkett Little League, St. Peter’s Basketball League and Christ the King CYC basketball league.

Franco’s mission is to provide the opportunity of upward mobility for every citizen in the district and Massachusetts. “Every citizen of the Commonwealth deserves the opportunity to better themselves, their families and to future generations,” according to Franco. The plan to achieve upward mobility is to focus on three critical areas: Job Creation, Excellent Schools and Efficient Government. “I promise the voters within the First Worcester Senate District that every vote I take, every policy I support, and every cause I advance will focus on creating jobs, maintaining our excellence in education and running the government efficiently,” says Franco.
