Hi Bill – No receipt for you… am Worcester-based myself. This is the second Hertz-related thing I have seen this month. A friend of mine was charged for tolls in FL even though she had paid in cash at the toll booths. When she posted that on FB, someone else she knows had a similar story with Hertz.

Here’s my tip. Use Hotwire. It’s usually cheaper per day and you avoid all of those other charges you mentioned. Plus, if you need to insure the car, the Hotwire insurance is usually cheaper ($9/day). On Hotwire you can select the type of car and the rental agency. Plus, tells you if it’s in terminal or not. I travel for biz a lot and need to rent cars sometimes.. only had one “issue” with Hotwire (they listed the rental agency “in the terminal” when it was not, so I had to take a shuttle; but that was the only time I had an issue).

My tip for renting cars.. (even when you use Hotwire..) is that when a rental car employee asks you a question, there’s usually gonna be a charge if you say yes. So, my first reply is now “What’s the charge?” They then quote you “per day” all the time (w/o telling you it’s per day usually, so I also ask, “What’s the total over the time I have the car?”

Also, 10 miles from the airport is fine to gas up. A Thrifty rental agent once told me that anything over 10 miles and you’re pushing it.   Sorry about your trouble and thanks for the work you do on tracking Worcester air-related stuff.
