Worcester, MA – March 16, 2015 – Tickets are on sale for the Junior League of Worcester’s (JLW) 90TH anniversary Speakeasy Soiree fundraiser. Taking place inside of the Worcester Club on Saturday, April 11, this 1900s-themed event celebrates the achievements of the women who have volunteered to make a positive impact within our community. It is also expected to be the JLW’s largest fundraiser of the year.

“In recent years, our members have been out in the community volunteering with teenage girls through our Food4Thought and Kids in the Kitchen programs,” said League President Melanie Perreault. “This anniversary party is also an opportunity to learn and look back at the work women in the League’s past completed during their active years to gain additional insight to put toward our future plans. The League has completed great strides and we are proud to celebrate our achievements of the women who have volunteered to make a positive impact in our community.”

“The Worcester Club was the selected venue because of its classic look and great history with the city,” stated event co-chair Heather Slugaski. She continued to say that the evening’s entertainment will be performed by Nat Needle, a performer of rag time and other old standards.

You do not need to be a member to attend. “Just by simply attending, people positively impact the League by helping us further our mission and goals to help young women grow to be self-sufficient,” said event co-chair and VP of Finance Rebecca Robinson. While it is a great way for our members and sustainers to reconnect, all who attend will enjoy the night.”

Period attire is encouraged but not required and there will be prizes awarded to the best dressed of the evening. Doors open at 7:00 P.M. and ends at 10:00 P.M. Tickets are $65 and must be purchased in advance through the Junior League at 508-854-9922 or online at www.jlwma.org or by phone at 508-854-9922.

A number of local organizations have shown their support by donating a number of items for both raffle baskets and a silent auction. Proceeds of the evening go toward the Junior League’s volunteer training workshops, programs and scholarships to high school graduates demonstrating a commitment to volunteerism. The League is always looking for new members so please contact through the website if interested in joining.
