The New England Revolution hosted their last home match of the 2017 season. With one more match left, on the road in Montreal, the Revs were playing for pride against New York City FC, haven already been eliminated from the playoffs.
The Revs task of winning their last home match was made easier with an early red card for NYCFC forward Jack Harrison, following a challenge on Teal Bunbury.

Despite having an advantage, being up 1 player, the Revs didn’t create many good quality scoring chances.
The second half saw more scoring chances for the Revs, and some good ones. forcing NYCFC goalie Sean Johnson to make some good saves. It didn’t take long for the Revs to score. Diego Fagundez scored his 5th goal of the season when he picked out the top corner 20 yards out.

The Revs had plenty of good chances to make it 2-0, but saw their shots either get saves, or in Diego’s case, go inches wide on a 2 v 1. Kei Kamara had a couple of chances get saved. But they were not going to be denied, and late in to the match, after a scramble, Diego got his second goal.

The Revs finished their 2017 home record of 13-2-2. Amazing considering the fact they are not going to the playoffs.
