The New England Revolution returned home following two games on the road which resulted in a 3-3 tie at Seattle and a 2-0 loss to Columbus. It only took about 35 minutes to get the feeling that this match was over. That’s when Diego scored the third of four goals New England scored against Real Salt Lake, winning 4-0.

New England began the match without their leading goal scorer Juan Agudelo, who was out after being listed as questionable on the injury list with an upper extremity injury. But clearly his presence wasn’t needed much against RSL.
It also didn’t take long for the Revs to score. Just four minutes in, Chris Tierney, who was playing more attacking midfielder, made a great pass down field towards the left corner flag, where Diego was able to out run, and muscle out his defender, create some space for a left footed cross, where Scott Caldwell perfectly timed his run into the RSL box for the shot.

Second goal of the match came 14 minutes later. Lee Nguyen on a corner kick delivered the perfect cross for Kei Kamara, who beat his man that was marking him, to head in his third goal of the season.

Third goal came in the 34th minute when Diego Fagundez scored his first goal of the season. With Lee and Kelyn both credited with assists, Diego made a run right at RSL’s net where Kelyn easily picked out Diego, who had a wide open net.

All that in the first 41 minutes of the match.
The second half was more slower, keeping possession of the ball. Even though the goals ended, New England did have two goals called off for offsides, correctly. They were also able to keep the clean sheet, their third clean sheet, all from Cody Cropper.
