Many people are aware of JetBlue flying direct daily to Orlando (MCO) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL), but many are not aware of that we have a new FBO (Fixed Base Operator) replacing Swissport:
A fixed–base operator (FBO) is a commercial business granted the right by an airport to operate on the airport and provide aeronautical services such as fueling, hangaring, tie-down and parking, aircraft rental, aircraft maintenance, flight instruction, etc.
To date they have already invested $5-million in a 27,000 square foot hanger and office space at the airport creating approximately 30 jobs. Rectrix also operates facilities in Hyannis, Bedford, Westfield, Mass., as well as Sarasota, Fla. The addition of Rectrix has been a huge improvement at ORH!! In the past we heard many complaints about the prior FBO, to date we have not heard one about Rectrix.
Recently the CEO, Richard Cawley, was quoted in the Cape Cod Times that they were looking to acquire Beechcraft King Air twin-engine, turboprop, nine-passenger planes to start its commuter operations. One route that was mentioned in this article was “Worcester to Hyannis in the summer”. We think this route will do great and could never understand why Cape Air have not done this years ago?
Let us make one recommendation to Rectrix. How about a daily shuttle to BOS with a code sharing agreement with JetBlue, like Cape Air does out of Hyannis. If we were to do this we would not only have daily service to MCO and FLL, but to all of JetBlue destinations out of BOS…
