We really felt JetBlue would add third destination announcing either a Gulf Coast destination or Puerto Rico for their peak season (winter) that would coincide with the 2nd anniversary of the daily services to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando.   In order to maximize their return for this season, they really needed to have announced this new service by now.   Obviously we could be wrong, but it is starting to look like we will have the same two destinations this winter.

Don’t depair!!!   The only thing holding back ORH right now is CAT III landing equipment, not an access road.   If you followed any of the news this week, it was pretty hard to miss that ground has been broken for the CAT III system with an estimated completion date of December, 2017.

JetBlue were one of the first operators to put their name in the order book for the A320neo family and at present are waiting on 70 new-engine-option Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF) airframes. In addition to existing A321ceo and Embraer (NYSE:ERJ) E190 commitments, this will result in a 62% fleet expansion over the next 8 years – an excellent indication of JetBlue’s intended capacity expansion.

Although we did not get the announcement that we hoped for , the CAT III announcement is actually even better news.    ORH is in a very good position moving forward to benefit from JetBlue’s fleet expansion.
