One key line from the Telegram story:
With Calgary, Edmonton, Los Angeles, San Jose and Anaheim all positioned to move their AHL affiliates west, the group has reached its magic number of four teams with room to spare.
Here are some other stories from around the country to give you some other perspectives:
- Norfolk Admiral have been sold (video below)
- Another report points toward western move
- New west coast division of the AHL is moving closer to reality; could Utica Comets’ future be in doubt?
Now add in the fact that the lease ends between the Worcester Sharks and the City of Worcester at the end of this year, it is pretty clear that this is an afait accompli especially when you read this last column, Making Sense of all the AHL West Reports .
Hope we are wrong, but the City should be asking questions to the DCU Management like:
- Last fiscal year ending the DCU had a profit of $244,515 (prior story on DCU numbers), what will happen to our bottom line if we lose the Sharks.
- Are there any plans in place to find another team, if we do in fact lose the Sharks?
- The city of Norfolk has a clause in its contract requiring Anaheim to find it another team, do we have anything like that? (source Post Star)
- Here is another story how Norfolk will get an ECHL affiliate to replace the AHL Norfolk Admirals from the PilotOnLine.
