Worcester, MA –– When the Jesse Burkett Little League’s Couglin Field in Worcester was in need of some updates, the tight-knit community surrounding it did not hesitate to help out. Local families and businesses were kind enough to donate the funds necessary to make these much-needed renovations. Perhaps most notable was the $5,000 donation from TJ Woods Insurance Agency, Inc., which covered the cost of dugout renovations and brand new lighting fixtures for the field.
When Jack Woods, President of TJ Woods Insurance, found out that the Jesse Burkett Little League needed some assistance, it was sort of a no-brainer to him. “My kids grew up playing in that field, and I’ve coached there myself. It’s great to be able to give back to an organization that does something so positive for our kids.” Woods was thrilled that he was able to make the contribution through his family-owned business, where community is of great importance.
Donors and volunteers were honored on November 15th with a lighting ceremony at the Couglin Field. A plaque for TJ Woods was erected on one of the dugouts as a way to show gratitude for their sizable donation.
The real excitement will be in the spring when the kids get to play on their new and improved field. Jack Woods hopes that the little leaguers are able to make more great memories with the help of their upgraded space.
