Boston, MA – State Representative Ryan C. Fattman (Webster) is circulating a resolution in the House of Representatives asking Governor Deval Patrick to deny a federal request from President Barack Obama to house thousands of illegal immigrant children. The request from President Obama came earlier this week as a result of an influx of Central American children refugees crossing the border, causing what some are calling a “humanitarian crisis”.fattman stand

Frustrated with the lack of response from the state’s executive agencies on immigration including no response from MassHealth and other agencies to provide information on costs of services being provided to illegal immigrants, Fattman is asking members of the Legislature to con-sponsor his resolution asking the Governor to first consult with the Legislature about the President’s request, and heed to the outcry from constituents asking not to shelter the illegal aliens.

The resolution states “The Governor, in an act of solidarity between both Houses of the Legislature, shall not shelter illegal aliens in the Commonwealth at the request of President Barack Obama due to serious public safety, public health, and financial concerns”.

The resolution, although non-binding, will be filed in the House of Representatives on Wednesday. It is the Representative’s hope the resolution will pass in a House session early next week. The deadline to co-sponsor the resolution is set for next Tuesday evening.

Additionally Fattman is asking people around the state to sign a petition in support of the resolution, and also will be tracking legislators who sign on to the resolution at www.fattman.com/fattmanresolution.
