Happy Father’s Day

I can say that clearly, I’m feeling more than excited to be a father of many children. I’m always proud and feel good because of the love that they share with me. The way that they understand me in our conversations makes me feel better day by day. One of the good reactions that always touches my heart is the way they welcome me, the way they are happy to see me, the great hugs I receive, and the good smiles on their faces when I come from somewhere. All of that makes me feel my love is growing bigger for them day by day. Even if I spend one day outside of the house, maybe go to school or somewhere else, they welcome me as someone who was away for weeks – they missed me! They yell and call my name and they give me the feeling of being a father in my life. I am so proud. I love my kids and they love me! We asked some of our boys the qualities they think make a good father. Here’s what they said.
HaitiSteeve: (10) I want to be able to have fun with my children – to play – and to be a good memory for them.

Whenly: (8) A good father is one who helps his children and understands them better than other people. They are supposed to teach you right and wrong. I feel like I have more than one father at Be Like Brit!

HaitiTooveno: (8) A good father is patient and helps me with my school work – like Mr. Wilmann does.

Fredo: (12) I want to be a father like Wilmann and the other caregivers I know here. They like to spend time with us to play and to teach us. They give us their time and it makes me happy.

Solar Panel Haiti

Solar Panel Project!

It takes thousands of dollars to run our orphanage each month. To eliminate our electric bill, we have decided to switch our energy intake by adding solar panels to Be Like Brit.

This worthwhile project will cost $65,000. Granite City Electric in Worcester has spent the last six months designing a 30 KW solar project to BLB. Once installed, the solar system, in conjunction with a battery back up system, will provide 100% of the electrical needs of the orphanage. This is not only financially responsible, it will help save the planet!

Granite City Electric is generously donating a 22ft box truck this summer to transport the materials to Miami port and then to Haiti. Also a big Thank You to Solect in Massachusetts for donating a generous amount of solar panels, and sending two workers to come and install them in Haiti! The installation date for the solar system is the last week of August. Please help us accomplish the ambitious and worthwhile goal! Thank you.
