JetBlue E190 parked at gate 2 in Worcester

Although service at Worcester Airport right now is limited to Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale on JetBlue Airways, at the moment, the simplicity of flying out of and into ORH cannot be overstated. You can get to the airport 45 minutes prior to departure and be standing at the gate within 10 minutes. After arrival at ORH you’ll be standing at the baggage claim within 2 minutes and have your bags in hand within 10 minutes.

JetBlue has visibly been successful in Worcester thus far based on the load factors that they’ve been pulling. The first several months the loads were between 75-85% in the “peak” months. Now during the summer “non-peak” months they’re consistently flying in/out 80-90% full planes. This is a great sign that people are finding out about Worcester Airport and the ease of flying there.

To prove that Worcester can sustain JetBlue the winter months will be the true test because if the planes fly in and out 95-100% full then we will be seeing the larger 150-seat Airbus A320 and possibly more destinations such as San Juan, Tampa, and Ft. Myers. Also, recently there have been rumors of Delta Airlines landing at ORH with an announcement date or service start of January 1, 2015 likely to Atlanta and/or Detroit. JetBlue’s success thus far as well as the simplicity of ‘flying ORH’ will eventually lure several airlines to fly out of Worcester.
