Owner Erick Godin is selling the Green Street bar and music venue after 16 years in business to move on to pursuing his own musical career, according to a sales advertisement.
“I am looking for the right person or team of people that have a ‘live music’ idea to propel the nightclub into something that I haven’t had the time or the energy for as of late,” Godin said in a statement. “So, what I’m saying is I’m trying to have this club NEVER go away.”
Godin is dispelling rumors that the club is closing at the end of August, as some have conjectured after a band advertised a Aug. 29 show as the “last show at the Dog.”
The sale of the Lucky Dog is being handled by business brokers George & Company, according to Chris George.
Godin is hoping that the new owners will be just as enthusiastic about music as he is because then he knows the venue will be in good hands. He hopes the buyer will Read More into different software, marketing, and tech solutions that can be used to grow The Lucky Dog further.
“In our industry, a lot of times owners don’t want people to know they’re selling,” George said. “In this case, the owner said I think you’ll get more activity if people know we’re talking about a place where the Rolling Stones once played when it was Old Sir Morgans.”
Another famous performance noted in the advertisement was a night when tribute band Children of the Korn were playing and members of the band Korn, who were playing nearby at the DCU Center, walked in and jammed.
In a Craigslist advertisement for the sale, it notes the Lukcy Dog has been “known for the best live music entertainment in Worcester.”
