Last November 7th, the first flight by JetBlue was the first commercial flight out of Worcester in over 30 months when Direct Air went out of business.  Despite the fact that there was no service for and the naysayers, who said Worcester has too many weather problems, needs an access road and is not competitive, Worcester had a good winter season.  We estimate loads had to be in the 90% range during these peak travel months.

As summer approached, we were concerned that these daily flights to Orlando (MCO) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) would be hard to fill.   Although it was not as good as the winter, we estimate the loads were in the 80-85 percent range.   After one year, we had a total of 110,000 passengers.   Pretty dam good!!!!

Now we are in our second year and the word is starting to get around that Worcester is a good deal to MCO and FLL.  Easy check-in with low parking rates (& per day or $42 for the week).   The schedule also been changed to avoid early and late night fog resulting in no cancellations the past 40 days.    These fog problems will be a moot point when the CAT III landing system comes in, eliminating the only real problem that we have encountered.

What we are trying to say is that this winter should be even better then last year.    Looking at the next three days, flights out of Worcester are already at 90% full!   It would be great if we could fill the 100 seat Embraer on a consistent basis and maybe get JetBlue to bring in the 150 seat Airbus.    As far as any new services, we predict the best chance for us is either Fort Myers or San Juan, we will see.
