The New England Revolution won this evening 3-0 over Toronto FC. Recent Revs signing Jermaine Jones made his Revs debut in the 65th minute of the game when it was 3-0. Since ending their 8 game losing streak earlier this summer the Revs are 3-1-1. Tonight’s win is their 2nd straight win and 3rd game unbeaten. All 3 wins were shut-outs, including back to back shutouts with tonight’s win.
- Lee Nguyen opened the scoring in the 2nd minute
- Kelyn Rowe in the 21 minute made it 2-0
- Teal Bundbury in the 58 minute made it 3-0
- Revs first two goals off of Toronto sloppy passing
- Lee Nguyen provided assist on 2nd goal by Rowe
- Goalkepper Bobby Shuttleworth records 2nd straight shutout, 2 1/2 games with out conceding a goal, 233 minutes total
As for the playoff picture, the Revs currently are 3rd in the east (10-12-3 33 points). With the final 1/3 of the season coming, the Revs look like they maybe be getting warm again, and at the right time too. With the addition of Jermaine Jones, who played 25 minutes vs Toronto, everything might be coming together for the Revs. Their next game is vs defending champs Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night at Gillette stadium, for what maybe Jermaine Jones home debut and first start. This game will be interesting to see who will be on the starting XI, and how this team may look like once Jermaine starts. It will also remain to see how manager Jay Heaps will shuffle his lineup in the midfield, who gets less playing time as a result of Jermaine being here, and what his presence will mean for the other players around him.
