WORCESTER – Worcester may have reduced opioid deaths from its high point last August, when 12 people died of heroin overdoses, but the numbers of non-fatal overdoses are spiking. City Councilor Sarai Rivera wants to know why, and what the city plans to do about it.
Rivera first raised her concerns last week, at a council meeting. Thursday, the Standing Committee on Health and Human Services, which Rivera leads, will meet and opioids are the main topic.
