BARRE – Police have released a video showing the car of a suspect who allegedly beat up a 71-year-old man in what is being deemed a road rage incident on Saturday.
The video shows the victim’s car, white, being followed by the suspect’s SUV, described as a green Chevrolet or GMC, on Route 122 in Barre. Police said the two were driving from High Plains area or Yummy Gardens Chinese restaurant area (off Main St and Route 32) prior to the video.
Officers were called to the area of Route 122 near the Mass Water Building around 6 p.m. for what was originally reported as a traffic hazard. When they arrived, officers found a 71-year-old man with “potentially serious” injuries after being pulled from his car and struck several times in the face.
The video released Sunday night shows a third black SUV that was in the area at the time of the incident. Police are also hoping to speak to that driver about the incident.
Police are still trying to identify the suspect, who has been described as a white man with short dark hair in his early 20s. He was approximately 6 feet tall with tattoos on his arms and wearing jeans and a shirt.
Anyone with information is asked to call Barre Police at (978) 355-4991.
