Its been a couple of weeks since my last article. Apologies for that, been very busy with my day job! But focusing on this! If you watched the first leg (I didn’t, I was working) then you missed (including me) what was a great game. Back and forth. But what final result was an all important road win, 2-1 win. Teal Bundbury scored a great goal from outside the box, with his left foot, curled inside the post. Even more impressive was the Midnight riders and all the Revs supporters (1,200 of them) who traveled down to New Jersey and cheer the Revs on to a 2-1 road win!!
Jermaine Jones continues to spark this offense, scoring the game winner and assisting the first goal. Teal Bundbury, who scored the first goal, assisted the game winner to Jermaine Jones. Teal continues his hot streak.
For the return leg at Foxboro, NYRB will be without leading scorer Bradley Wright Phillips, who lead the league with 27 goals this season, after picking up his 2nd yellow of the post season, suspending him for this game. And Thierry Henry, who normally doesn’t play on turf, will play this game. Missing their leading scorer, and up 2-1 on aggregates, it seems easy to say the Revs are through to the finals, but no. They still have 90 minutes of soccer to play. NYRB will without a doubt, through the kitchen sink at the Revs. One or two bad moments can end it for the Revs. But as we know, manager Jay Heaps always wants his team to play for the win. It is how he trains, and prepares his team every week. And the players will also want to win this game.
