The Washington Nationals’ Steven Souza Jr. has alternated between the majors and the minors this season, but pitcher Jordan Zimmermann must be pleased that the outfielder was on the field in the ninth inning during the team’s regular-season finale.

On Sunday, Souza made a great diving catch on the final play of the game to finish off Zimmermann’s no-hitter against the Miami Marlins. Miami’s Christian Yelich hit the ball hard to left-center field, and it looked like Zimmerman may lose his no-hit bid with one out to go. Luckily, Souza saved the day.
Not only did Souza’s catch save the no-hitter, but with the Nationals clinging to a 1-0 lead, it also kept the Marlins from putting the tying run in scoring position.

Zimmermann, who struck out 10 and walked only one batter on the day, admitted after the game that he thought he had lost the no-no when the ball left Yelich’s bat.
