The New England Revolution battled the Columbus Crew in Columbus this evening in a Eastern Conference show down. With the Revs currently sitting 5 points clear of the last playoff spot, a win would not only see the Revs take one more big step closer to the playoffs, but also tie Kansas city for 2nd in the Eastern Conference. The Crew on the other hand must win just to hang on to that last playoff spot that they occupy. The Revs currently on a 5 game winning streak, 6 games unbeaten.

This loss snaps the Revs 5 game winning streak. This was a hard fought game with both sides getting multiple scoring chances. No moral victories but the Revs did get plenty of shots on target, forcing Crew’s keeper Steve Clark to make 6 saves all together, including a beauty against Charlie Davies. Game was also very chippy, 5 yellow cards were issued, 4 to Columbus 1 to New England. Crew also committed 16 fouls in the game, vs 12 for New England.
