About ten years ago, maybe even 15, we were invited to participate in a golf tournament that the Demoulas were putting together to benefit a local charity on the North Shore. After the tournament, the ownership was there, but we do not remember meeting Artie T or Artie S. We do recall vividly, however, that there were two distinct camps running the company and were basically told that they did not get along? Keep in mind that was 15 years ago!!
We find it hard to believe that these two sides have not tried for years to buy each other out and we highly doubt that they will come to an agreement now. In addition, although each of these guys has alot of money. neither has the “cash” to buy each other and would need some type of financing. A bank right now may be a little afraid to get into this fray right now??
Bottom line, we feel at the Worcester Herald ,that they only way this can end well for the employees is for a “white knight” to come in from another part of the country wanting to establish a footprint in the Northeast like Randalls??. We will see.
