There was a time when I use to like a top ten list like the top ten moments in Boston Sports, Letterman or Wayne and Garth. Now I hate them!!! Does anyone really care about the top ten serial killers from Listverse?
You are never going to see one of these here, but why have they become so popular?? The term is “listicles” or “clickbait” which forces readers to go to the next screen and click on it, thereby artificially inflating numbers their click numbers. In other words one person going through a top ten list looks like ten viewers. Get it?? They are done by media outlets to merely pump up their numbers.
Next time you see list like the Top Ten list just realize you are being played, not to mention the lists are horrible. Reminds me of a scene from The Wire describing “juking the numbers”:
