When you think of Pride you normally think of summer, but in 
Worcester our pride is in the fall. You’d say that’s an odd time to celebrate Pride. Well, the fact of the matter is Worcester is a college town, and by early June the colleges are out and many families are on vacation. Therefore, the Worcester Pride Committee long ago decided to hold Pride in September, when all the college kids are back in town and all the summer festivals are done. So why not celebrate with one last HOORAH!
This years Worcester Pride will take place September 4th – 6th. There will be many events that are great for all walks of life. Thursday we will kick off Pride weekend with our traditional Pride Flag Raising at City Hall. Friday night will be our night of pageantry where we will see many individuals compete for Mr. Gay Worcester, Ms. Lesbian Worcester, and Miss Gay Worcester. This event will be a fabulous night of fun, glamour, and of course Drag.
Saturday will be the MAIN EVENT! Our Pride Parade will start at 11 am at Institute Park and make its way through downtown ending at the Worcester Commons. At 12pm we will start our huge Pride Festival. The Festival features lots of entertainment, vendors, food, and the largest Kids Zone of any regional Pride. In fact we “PRIDE” ourselves on being the most family friendly Pride in New England. The Festival wraps up at 6pm, but the celebration will continue.
Pride night will be full of parties and fun including a Youth Dance for ages 16 – 21 from 7pm to 10pm at the Mass College Of Pharmacy. We will feature our First “Pride on the Street in the Canal District” which will have multiple places to celebrate the night away. It will start at The MB Lounge and end at Nick’s Cabaret (some venues may be 21+ only so please plan accordingly). These events will have a free WRTA Shuttle Bus (looping) to take you to all of the venues on the “Pride on the Street in the Canal District” map.
