The New England Revolution winning streak came to a crashing end this weekend versus the worst team in the league, Montreal Impact, losing 2-0. Montreal scored in the 3rd minute and that was all they needed as the Revs really didn’t threaten the Montreal often. Even though the Revs had almost 60% possession, its what you do that counts, and the Revs just couldn’t get much done.   Montreal’s defense pushed high up the pitch, not allowing the Revs much space to operate.

Both of Montreal’s goals could of been prevented, but the defense were caught either with players out of position unable to make the play or goalie Bobby Shuttleworth not handling rebounds.  There just isn’t too much to write about, I was expecting more from them considering the run the Revs were on and how bad Montreal were playing.

Team USA played their 2nd world cup tune up this weekend too vs Turkey and won 2-1. Overall they looked ok, but there are still issues on who will play defense.   Turkey missing some good scoring chances in the first half after finding some open spaces in the defensive end.

Right back Fabian Johnson, who went 15 months without a call up and now is going to the World Cup, scored a beautiful goal assisted by Michael Bradley.   After making a nice run down the middle of the field, Fabian continued his run after making a pass to Bradley, striking the ball passed the keeper.  He was, however, was  responsible for allowing Turkey to score late on a PK after losing possession to easy and allowing Turkey to get a shot on net that hit Geoff Cameron on the arm, forcing the ref to call the PK.

Captain Clint Dempsey made it 2-0 early in the 2nd half
