The New England Revolution have snapped their nine match winless streak! During these nine matches, they lost six and tied three. During this stretch, they also dropped out of the playoff race, now looking in from the outside.

Following a 1-1 tie over the weekend against Portland, extending the winless streak to nine, the Revs had a mid week match up against NYCFC. The match proved to be as tough as anyone was expecting, and more. With NYCFC dominating the possession and attacking stats, they were snake bitten all night, as they just couldn’t hit the target, despite all the chances they created.

Not pretty by any means, but a win is a win, especially when the Revs are trying to get back in the playoff race. NYCFC had plenty of shots that went wide, miscues by the defense, and needed all 90 minutes plus stoppage time to steal a win in the Bronx.

With veteran goalie Brad Knighton back in the lineup, he was needed to help with his veteran presence.

But it was the young man Brian Wright who was the hero tonight, who scored the lone goal. In his second season, out of the University of Vermont, from Canada, and rarely used so far in his career, he made the most of his 71 minutes on the field.
