Over the weekend, US women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe kneeled during the national anthem as a nod to NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Typically I don’t do stories like this, just stick to soccer and the Revs, but since this is soccer related, I want to offer my thoughts

Yes we should have this conversation like Collin and Megan are calling for, but I have a question to ask them:

What are people like Megan and Collin doing to help be part of the solution? Are they setting up funds, scholarships, being big brother big sisters in their local communities, help teach the young/help inspire them to be better, helping local police forces, stepping in their shoes, OR are they just doing this for attention for themselves? knowing they will get a lot of negative reaction?

My opinion is that people have the right to do this, whether you like it or not, this is what the 1st amendment protects. But if these athletes do nothing else but kneel or not stand for the American anthem to protest what they are protesting, what have they accomplished? We have the 24 hour news cycle to remind us.
