Many media outlets always try to take credit for various news stories.   We have never done that but we will take some credit today for the recent $3,000,00 tax credit, note this column titled Worcester Herald Tax Savings Ideas #5, specifically

5. North High debt: In 2014 we allocated approximately $1.4 million in the Five Point Plan for the North High Construction Fund. This makes sense since the annual payment on the North High debt is the same amount. In 2015, 2016 and now 2017 we are allocating over $3 million in the Five Point Plan for North High Construction Fund. Why are we putting as much is due into this fund?? Roll the annual amount back to the same level as in 2014 and we save approximately $1,500,000 million

We have decided to look closer at the list that we have put together of businesses that the City of Worcester should not be in of which the first three the City of Worcester has opted out of already.

  1. Hospitals
  2. Nursing Homes
  3. Airports
  4. Subsidizing the cost of affordable housing
  5. Golf
  6. Urban Renewal projects
  7. Convention Centers (DCU)
  8. Train Stations
  9. Parking Garages

We have decided to take a closer look at the DCU Center numbers.  Stay tuned.
