This new law goes into effect less then 30 days from now for all businesses and all employees (even part-timers), even those with 10 or less employees.    The only difference is employers with 10 or less provide these sick hours unpaid.    Businesses with 11 and over. on the other other hand, have to provide these hours with pay   We, at Advantage Benefits, have created a Sick Leave Policy that is in compliance with the new law and does not require tracking hours!

The plan highlights are:

  1. The Sick Pay Plan year runs from July 1st through June 30th.
  2. Provides 40 hours of sick pay on July 1, which can be used after 90 days of employment.
  3. There is no carryover of sick hours from one year to the next.

For more information please review our most recent newsletter on this subject and while you are these sign up to receive the newsletter.   If you have any questions or would like a copy of the plan, send me an e-mail.     Here is a video from earlier in the year that is very good and may also answer many questions.

Remember if you do have your own Sick Leave Policy, you will need to comply with the Massachusetts Sick Leave Law and follow their policy.
