Now that it is definate, yes it is, that the Sharks are moving to San Jose to be closer to the parent, we do not see how we would get another AHL team to replace them based on our attendance unless of course the Providence  Bruins want to mover to Worcester.   We are currently 4th from the bottom with an average of 3,341 per game with the league average being 5,104.

The next logical question is the ECHL, which is Double AA versus the Sharks who are Triple AAA.    Think that will be easy?   Take a look at what North Charleston does for their ECHL team:

 

 

Now look at the Division 1 hockey rankings.  Holy Cross is ranked 49, but look how many colleges in the top 60 are within 2 hours of Worcester that all have alumni in the area.     If Holy Cross were to schedule games at the DCU and we were to come up with package deals for alumni to come to Worcester?    Better yet, what about a hockey tournament for all the non-Beanpot teams?
