When I am out treating residential and commercial pest control accounts in Worcester, MA – people will always stop to ask me questions about bed bugs.

Some of the common questions that I get are…

  • Can you see bed bugs?
  • How fast do bed bugs crawl?
  • What do they look like?

Adult bed bugs are easily detected with the naked eye (as you will see in the video below).  However, “nymphs” (baby bed bugs) are almost impossible to see.  In order to see nymphs you must have experience inspecting for bed bugs and you’ll also have to have a good eye for detail.

Often times people will complain about bites but they never see any bugs.  It is usually because they are being bitten by tnymph bed bug bug bully pest controlhe nymphs and they cannot see them.

The image to the right shows what a nymph or baby bed bug looks like on the edge of a couch.

Notice how it is almost clear in color?

This is because it has not had a blood meal yet.

Once the nymph starts to feed it will then have some color and become more easily detected.

After the nymph goes through a feeding process of a few weeks it will look and crawl like this…
