Portion of South Street Being Converted to One-Way
7 February 2023

City crews are installing signs this week to convert the portion of South Street between Chapin Street and Shannon Street to one-way travel in the eastbound direction. This change, which was approved by the City Council in October 2022, will provide for safe and orderly access to Union Hill School and reduce disruption for residents on South Street. Frigid temperatures below zero degrees Fahrenheit are expected in the region this weekend, with wind chills of minus 30 degrees possible. Residents who parked in municipal garages during the ban have until 10 a.m. on Thursday to move their vehicles before regular rates resume.
