It didn’t take long.

Never does anymore now that tyranny is the newest fashion to sweep across America. The controversial National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was debated and put to a vote on June 12th 2014.    Members of the Worc. Tea Party, P.A.N.D.A and area residents spoke out against NDAA and gave several pointers to the Council on just what it entails.

Despite the fact that other surrounding towns (Rutland, Webster and Oxford) all voted down implementing NDAA within their communities the Councillors could not understand the importance of defending the Constitution as is their responsibility.  David Moore who is Solicitor for the City Council basically told Councillor at Large George J. Russell that this is NOT a city issue and is more suited for the Supreme Courts at the Federal Level.

Councillor at Large Konnie Lukes used the John Kerry approach in her decision to ‘file’ the motion. Lukes who was once against NDAA is now in favor of it.  In the video attached to this article she is heard to say that if she feels there are violations of a person’s rights within the city under NDAA she will be sure to vote against it in the future.

Well Konnie, you see, unConstitutional laws do not just go away simply because you suddenly are against them some time down the road. They have a nasty way of becoming law and imposed on all citizens including Mrs. Lukes. Some one be sure to remind her of that when the FEMA busses line up at City Hall to take people away.

Susan Serpa and Rich Aucoin from People Against The NDAA (P.A.N.D.A.) reminded the City Council of their Constitutional Oath and that their first and foremost job is to protect it.   It took all of ten seconds for the vote to ‘file’ the motion, but this is not over.  It still has to go through one more hearing and vote in the fall session at City Hall. Perhaps Mrs. Lukes will have time to flip flop on her decision once again.
I spoke to Rich Aucoin after the 20 minute charade and asked him about his take on the meetings. It was obvious to him the City Council was going to vote this way given the indications from a November meeting that he attended.    The movement is focusing on cities and towns because a bill they tried to get through Beacon Hill went nowhere and so the group is finding more success on a town by town basis..

Well, until they came to Worcester.
